HISTORICAL CONTEXT

This music is about a turning point in human history.  Every person who has lived has died in 120 years or less.  Our lives, our planet, and our universe are too rich for such a short life span.  For the first time in human history, we are acquiring the tools to push back the imminence of death.

We do not know what happens when we die.  We do know that life can be beautiful.  We should maximize our quality of life while postponing death.  The option to die is always on the table.  Right now, the option to live is not.

Are there challenges associated with this goal?  Absolutely.  I believe, however, that such a magnificent goal can serve as a unifying dream for humanity.  I believe in our ability to overcome any challenges and to reach the stars.
MUSICAL AIMS

I believe pop music can be art.  Louis Armstrong, Bob Dylan, and The Beatles all provide great examples of this.  Live Love Forever is a conscious effort to build on the tradition of pop music as art.  I have also sought to incorporate influences from philosophy, spiritual traditions, science, literature, and other art media.

My initial sonic aim was a combination of Kurt Cobain's home demos and Radiohead's "Everything in its Right Place."  Rough-edged, pathos-rich recordings of extremely precise songs.
ABOUT ME

I studied philosphy and poli sci as an undergrad.  After becoming convinced of the potential of advanced technology like genetic engineering and nanotech to reshape not only political realities, but also the fundamental nature of our human experience, I moved to Seattle to study science at UW.

After two years of studying chem and bio, I secured a volunteer position in a lab that researches the molecular basis of aging.  The conflict between my creative process and responsibilities to the lab became too trying, however, and I left the lab to focus on music.  I feel that as a researcher I would be unhappy right now, because music would always be on my mind.  I reason that I can make a greater contribution to the future I hope for by inspiring many people to study or support science..
A PLEA FOR SUPPORT

Please support this real, heartfelt music by spreading the word about it.  We all complain about the low quality of popular music, and here you have an opportunity to support an artist who has followed his vision and his passion all the way.
